Interspiro AB in Täby, Stockholm has been officially awarded a major contract to supply self-contained open-circuit compressed air breathing apparatus (SCBA) to the Hong Kong Fire Services Department (HKFSD).
The tender (Ref: A2500092023) was formally awarded on December 13, 2024, and published in the Hong Kong Government Gazette in January 2025. With a total contract value of $21,634,290 USD, the agreement represents one of the most significant international acquisitions of respiratory protective equipment in the region to date.
I participated as the designer for the cloud solution during the development of this system, and currently on ongoing updates. My work focus on optimising the visual logic of the data visualisation interface to ensure the software meets the uncompromising demands of the HKFSD.
The integrity of this design was put to a critical test during the fire at Wang Fuk Court. In an old high-rise where internal safety standards were inconsistent and smoke density made visibility near zero, the physical equipment was used to surveil multiple teams and send data to the cloud through telemetry.
